Recipe Swap 3     Food Bloggers Recipe Swap is a group of food bloggers who prepare a dish from a blogger's blog. The group initiator Amber pairs up the participants. We then decide what we want to make from our partner's blog. Usually we add a slight twist of our own or cook it the way we like but the main ingredients remain the same. At the end of the month we share our recipe link on the FB page.    For the month of March, I was paired with a new member Sapana. Though she is new to the group, I've known Sapana for a couple of years through another blogging group. Since I've been following her blog for a couple of  years, I have several of her recipes on my 'to do list'. However, till date haven't made any of them. But as the saying goes better late than never. Before  I go into the recipe that I chose to make from her blog let me introduce to you this lady who is super talented. I simply love her photography skills and how she can make a regular recipe i

MEGA BLOGGING MARATHON - APRIL 2018 #87TH BLOGGING MARATHON THEME: EXPLORE THE FLAVORS - INTERNATIONAL BREAKFAST DAY 4 "Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dine like a Pauper."    Today for breakfast is D for Dutch Baby Pancakes. Before we go to the recipe, let me assure you it has nothing to do with the country Netherlands or the Dutch. These pancakes, also called German pancakes, A Bismarck or even Dutch puffs were made first by Victor Manca in his cafe in Seattle, North America. His daughter named them Dutch Baby Pancakes where perhaps her pronunciation of Deutsch sounded more like Dutch. The confusion now is whether they originate from USA or Germany. Either way, its my contribution for an International Breakfast Dish.    These pancakes are made using flour, egg, milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon.  Usually served with some squeezed lemon, sugar and butter or fresh fruits. These days there are many options to serve these baked pancakes, like fresh fruit sauces,

MEGA BLOGGING MARATHON - APRIL 2018 #87TH BLOGGING MARATHON THEME: EXPLORE THE FLAVORS - INTERNATIONAL BREAKFAST DAY 3 "Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dine like a Pauper"    We are once again going through water cuts...you read right not power cuts but water cuts. We're in the 21st Century and basic amenities like water, power and garbage collection are missing in the second largest city of Kenya. Its a shame! We live in what's suppose to be the upmarket area on the island and we've not had piped water ever since my hubby's family opted to live in this area. We heavily depend on the borehole which is not enough for 240 apartments. Now I have to get up early and race with the clock to get breakfast and lunch ready, get the washing machine going, wash up whatever utensils I used, fill buckets with water and take a bath all before 10a.m. By the time the maid gets to work half the jobs are done. Usually at this time we should be having the long rai

MEGA BLOGGING MARATHON - APRIL 2018 #87TH BLOGGING MARATHON THEME: EXPLORE THE FLAVORS - INTERNATIONAL BREAKFAST DAY 2 "Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dine like a Pauper"     Before I venture into today's recipe, I would like to show off a bit of the azure blue skies and sea that lines the east coast of Africa. We in Mombasa are so lucky to have the beautiful Indian Ocean. Hubby and I spent the Easter holiday at the Bamburi Beach and every day it was a delight to walk on the beach. Though at time of the year the beach is strewn with seaweeds, believe me when I tell you that its a sign of a healthy sea eco system. When the tides is out, little puddles of water is where one can find sea cucumber, sea urchins, star fish and beware of the occasional porcupine fish and the numerous tiny blue jelly fish. Its a delight to watch people playing football on the beach, children building sand castles or digging holes so that they can 'bury' their siblings, fri

MEGA BLOGGING MARATHON - APRIL 2018 #87TH BLOGGING MARATHON THEME: EXPLORE THE FLAVORS - INTERNATIONAL BREAKFAST DAY 1 "Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince and Dine like a Pauper" goes a famous saying. Why am I talking about breakfast? The reason is that the Blogging Marathon group participates in the Mega Blogging Marathon twice a year. I participated in my first one last September where we made 26 protein rich dishes . For the #87th the theme is Explore the Flavors where one has the option of participating in the breakfast, street food,  Indian sweets, lunch box dishes for elders, kids lunchbox, no refined sugar or refined flour, no onion no garlic and wholegrain. The participants can choose one theme and make 26 dishes using that one theme or have the option of choosing 4 themes, each theme you post recipes for a week.    I decided to choose International Breakfast dishes which I'll do for the whole month. The rule is that we're not allowed to repeat the

My babies are Adults        My twins turned 32 on 30th March. Boy and girl, just 3 minutes apart but they are like chalk andcheese, aasman aur zameen as the saying goes... they understand each other totally and yet are so different. My daughter is like a social bee, making zillions of friends and thrives in a noisy environment. My son on the other hand prefers to keep to himself and probably wouldn't survive in a very busy environment.    Its a different kind of feeling, a feeling of pride, satisfaction, joy and happiness when a parent sees their child or children growing up into fine adults and venturing out into the wide world to find their own niche. My eldest one is only a year older to them so basically it was like having triplets. Each one is following his/her dream, end of 2017 beginning 2018 has been a year of changes where the three are concerned. The eldest moved to Bali with his wife to start out their life in the hot tropical island. Their small boutique
