Peanut and Fruit Salad(Chaat) #Fantastical Food Fight Trying to eat healthy        When you're a food blogger and food is your passion, its pretty difficult to stay away from all those tempting recipes out there in the cyber world and cook books. I get tempted to try out so many recipes and the more calories it has the temptation level is that much higher!          Recently I joined this group called Fantastical Food Fight . I got tempted to join after I saw the absolutely tempting cookies made by Karen of Karen's Kitchen Stories . After I oooooogled at the photos till I was drooling, she suggested that we should check out what other members of the group had made. I scrolled down and recipes had me salivating.      Just when I joined, the theme for March happen to be PB&J (peanut butter and jelly). And I thought oh no here goes out the healthy eating... but as I read on further, Sarah Ellis (host of the group) mentioned that...

HAPPY NEW YEAR     Write it in your heart that every day of this new year is the best day.           A new year has begun, time to reflect on what we achieved last year, what we didn't and  what we would like to achieve. Like every year I continuously make a resolution to lose weight, which so far I haven't; not get so emotional if my kids don't call regularly, which is pretty difficult to stick by and have more patience with my hubby's weird, out of this world ideas. However, I still get angry and try to retaliate them with all my energy :)     This year I've not made any resolutions as I forget about them even before the 15th of January. Desserts, chocolates, good fried food, chaats still tempt me to no end. Perhaps I will try and take baby steps or make small mindful changes every day. However, it can only work if I continue with the change and not forget about it after a day. Lets see how it goes.    But changes I...

Chaotic life                 Have you noticed how life in India can be so chaotic. Forget about getting problems sorted out in an orderly and calm fashion. Everyone thinks that the more you shout, the louder you are the problem will vanish. Shouting, loud accusations and chaos does not bring about solutions. However, after a bout of all this 'hangman' life carries on till we experience the next round of shouting which gets louder by the second and then suddenly peace and quiet rules. Has the problem been solved? Not at all but for many spectators it is entertainment. But isn't the chaotic life that attracts so many to India again and again?                 I am grateful that I'm right now sitting in my apartment where the surroundings are peaceful and quiet and cool breeze cooling my home and typing my post out.               It's Monday and time to present our #foodieMonda...

Angels are often disguised as daughters     The week just goes by so quickly. Every day I wake up and say to myself,  2more months, few more weeks before the wedding and so much to do. Yesterday when we were discussing with my future son-in-law and his mum what happens after the wedding ceremony, so it was like bidaai (farewell to the bride) will happen and we take Nami (my daughter) with us. I wanted to burst into tears at the moment, as reality is fast approaching that she will belong to some other family. I had to be really strong and keep a smiling face, but am sure that if hubby dear would have been with me I surely would have burst out crying. As I am writing this, I do have tears in my eyes and right now(Sunday night) am sitting along at the dining table and writing this post and can cry openly.      I nearly was going to skip this week's #FoodieMonday#Bloghop, our 58th one with the theme tea time savouries. But, as my blog is not only for food...

my 500th recipe      Its been an exciting journey since I started blogging. Along the way I have learnt so many new ingredients, recipes and cuisines. I've had my shares of flops and hits. I have also learnt how to try and salvage a flop dish, if possible. Looking back, I do have to update some of my recipes. I need to take better photos or do a better presentation. However, my main focus is always on the recipe itself. Since I have started blogging, its also been a way of sharing my thoughts and views with my followers. It's like a diary which I can go back to whenever I want. Sad and happy events, both have found space on my blog. So today's event cannot go unmentioned. An earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit Nepal, parts of India and parts of Bangladesh. The level of destruction, the lives lost, the fear created and livelihoods snatched is enormous and unrepairable. Years back we had experienced a very small tremor in Mombasa, and that event scared me so much. So I cannot e...

Easy communication      WhatsApp has improved communication tremendously. You just need to be connected to an internet or wifi and voila... you're good to go. Its become easier to communicate with friends and family who are far from us or when we are travelling. So the typical messages sent are  'leaving for the airport', 'reached the airport', 'done with security and immigration', 'having coffee', 'boarding plane', 'boarded'. Then for a while its peace and quiet. As soon as one lands, the first task is to find out if there is free wifi at the airport. If there is messaging begins again. 'Lovely airport', 'immigration line very long', 'waiting for baggage', 'reached our destination', etc etc. While for most of this is really good because we can keep in touch with family and friends, sometimes whatsapp can turn out to a be a huge nuisance. If you are part of several groups, then your mobile is certai...
