Enkare Nyrobi - Cool Water        I've been spending some time in the capital city of Kenya, Nairobi. Nairobi gets its name from the Masai phrase Enkare Nyrobi which means cool water. It perhaps was names so as its got the Nairobi River flowing through it. However, the river is no longer what I remembered it as. Its polluted and the flow has reduced due modernization.  I was born and brought up in Nairobi but have been living in Mombasa for the past 35 years. Usually when hubby and I are traveling abroad, we do not bother to come into the city and prefer to catch our connecting flight. The traffic in Nairobi is a nightmare in spite of all the new highways and numerous inner roads. The new roads are not able to cope with the ever increasing number of cars on on the road. Savory Cookies are yum Theme: Cookies For Your Sweet Tooth BM #81 Week 2 Day 1    Since yesterday, the power fluctuation has been so annoying. The power keeps on coming and going every 10-15 minutes. On top of that there was no internet since yesterday! How can one get work done without reliable power or internet. We have become so dependent on power for everything. Be it housework, office work or any other kind of work, power is required. Where other countries take power supply for granted we here in Kenya still have to  treat it like a luxury but everything is done on computers! Coconut and Rum Theme: Surfing Through The Caribbeans BM #81- Week 1 Day 3    A Caribbean cuisine theme would be incomplete without a Jamaican dish. Whenever one mentions the Caribbean, Jamaica is what pops up in my mind and I hear its one of the few countries where a Kenyan passport holder can go to without prearranged visa :) A country that has a diverse population, the indigenous tribe, Africans, Indians, Europeans and Chinese. Under the Spanish rule it was called Santiago but after the British took over, they named it Jamaica.
