jet lag :(   Travelling between different time zones and that too in the easterly direction is no laughing matter for me. My body wants to sleep when the rest of this part of the world is up and about and lacks sleep when they are resting. In medical terms its known as desynchronosis but more commonly its called jet lag. Travelling from Montreal to London and then to Mombasa, the body is pretty confused. Last time it took several days before my routine came back. It appears that the same is going to happen again. The cooler rainy weather doesn't help as I just want to curl up and go to sleep.     Well at the moment I am up so thought I should pay a bit of attention to my blog (I do get the blogging itch if I haven't been able to blog for a few days:) ). Just on the day I was leaving Montreal, I was sort of arranging and clearing the fridge and pantry for my bachelor son, when I came across a whole jar of sweet cashew nuts. double treat The Sweet Fantasy Club's  # 5  challenge (started by Preeti of  simply tadka ) was chocolate barfi and eggless chocolate crepe with strawberries. The word barfi reminds me of Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. My hubby and I both love chocolate so I made a double chocolate barfi (notice the thick layer of chocolate on top :). Making barfi is no big deal, wonder why I bought ready made ones when in a jiffy yummy home made ones are more delicious. I made the barfi using ready made mawa (khoya). I made them as a treat for Valentine's day and have to make another batch soon. ...

Somehow I have never associated Janamashtami with seriousness of pooja, havan and abhishek like say, Lord Ram's birthday. It's perhaps because its only during Janamashtami that the ISKCON temples organise a lot of entertainment to celebrate it. The temple in Mombasa usually manages to put up a few dances depicting Krishna's life and once in a while a short play. However, celebrations at the Juhu temple are on a much grandeur scale with lots happening for the whole week. It was during one of our visits to Mumbai that we got to see a ballet on Yashoda ma and Krishna performed by none other than Hema Malini and her younger daughter Ahana. It was a breath taking performance and I wished it could have carried on forever. Both mother and daughter were very graceful and it was perfectly choreographed. So tomorrow though there will be an a...
