Spreading Love    This is the first time I'm participating in the annual event #FoodBloggerLove Valentine's Day. This event is organized by PinterTest Kitchen . This blog is run by Sharon Boyer and her two daughters Allison and Jessica.  Basically, you sign up for the event (it was a group I'd joined to share recipes and to get to know other bloggers, but forgot about the group till I got the invite to join in this event). Here, it works like  secret Santa. I got assigned a blogger and some else will get me.The deal is to either prepare something from the assigned blog or prepare something that he/she would like.We share our recipes on the same day ( Please scroll down right to the bottom to see what other bloggers have prepared ). I was waiting with much excitement to see who I would get...seriously this is the first time I'm actually participating in this 'Secret Santa' game. Never ever participated in it but have heard all about the excitement and joy from m...

Happy Valentine's Day    What is Valentine's Day without roses, chocolates and all things cute? Hope hubby is reading this and gets a hint;). People could be selling Valentine's paraphernalia right under his nose and he'd still not get the hint. Sighhhh! Perhaps I should treat myself to roses.     Getting down to today's theme for FoodieMonday/Bloghop group , we unanimously decided on Valentine Rose as our 131st theme . For this theme one could either prepare something that has rose flavor or which is in the shape of a rose. I really love rose flavor so I chose to make a healthy but romantic dessert. Though I served to hubby dear a few days before Valentine's, he thoroughly enjoyed the early treat. That means I will either make something else for Valentine's Day, repeat this recipe, or perhaps like him just pretend that Valentine's Day does not exist.     Roses and other edible flowers have been used for centuries in cooking. Many Indian sweet dis...

Happy Valentine's Day     To love someone deeply gives you strength and to be loved deeply by someone gives you courage.     This is so true. Its my hubby's love that gives me courage to do want I want. Loving him gives me the strength to overcome any difficulties. My hubby has never been the flowers, chocolates, teddy bear type of person. Yesterday after watching Raees we went for lunch to a famous Italian restaurant. We were sitting next to the very tempting choices of gelato but he didn't ask me if I wanted some as Valentine's Day is around the corner. In all our 34 years of marriage I received only one valentine's card from him and that too when he was away doing his dermatology course. I bet the younger college mates and friends must have advised him to do so. Basically what I'm trying to get across to you all that he is not the romantic type, he's just too practical and serious. So you may ask "Why don't I do something special?" Well, it u...

Red Theme/ Valentine's Day preparation   For the month of January The 'Shhh cooking secretly ' group decided to make something using red coloured food so as to give an idea to our followers what they can prepare for Valentine's Day.My partner for this month was Amrita Iyer a food blogger whose blog is full of colour and mouth watering recipes. Check out The Food Samaritan to find out exactly what I mean.   The colour red signifies many things. Love, warmth, danger, power, passion, determination, anger and desire.Red also draws our attention to danger. So as you can see its got its positive side and the negative too. Today we're going to think of the positive things, it means life, love and passion. As I always say Valentine's Day is not the only day your should be loving your friend, spouse, fiance with all your passion. We should be loving them everyday.    Amrita had initially given me cherries and red currants as my ingredients. Unfortunately I couldn't ...

a special treat for a special person    What is ravioli? Its small pasta envelopes that contain a filling and is served with a sauce. We all are familiar with the savoury variety filled with meat, fish, cheese or vegetables and served with tomato, cheese or creamy sauce. Or just drizzled with loads of olive oil or melted butter. I am drooling as I love ravioli. For the February shhh cooking secretly challenge I was paired with Sathya Priya Karthik . The two ingredients she gave me were pasta and strawberry. When I read the two ingredients, I scratched my head and thought 'not exactly a lovely combination for Valentine's day'. The first thing that came to my mind was salad. Pasta salad with strawberries. But that was too easy. I had to think out of the box. Sometime back I had come across a recipe of sweet ravioli. So decided to try that out. I did not follow any one particular recipe. Took hints from different recipes. I was tempted to fry the ravioli as its normally serve...
