MEGA BLOGGING MARATHON -SEPT 2017 #80TH BLOGGING MARATHON THEME: PROTEIN RICH DISHES DAY:22    As I was going through my files, I came across this recipe in the draft. I had completely forgotten about it. I had prepared this delicious and filling breakfast dish for the Blogging Marathon theme Breakfast for the month of August which I had to back out of as I got too busy with guests. It was during one of my visits to Jean Talon market in Montreal that I came across a stall that had made fresh corn tortillas. These were made with white corn and not the usual yellow corn. I bought a packet as I had planned to make Huevos Rancheros. Oh well, perhaps this recipe was meant to be a part of the protein rich dishes. As we are nearly ending this Mega Marathon, I've realized that I've got so many other recipes that I'd wanted to prepare for this theme. However, like this breakfast dish, the others will appear in some theme or the other in the coming future.     What is Hue...

A Fusion Recipe     Its the end of the month and that means its time to post a Shhh Cooking Secretly Group recipe. What is this group about? The initiator of the group is Priya Suresh a blogger at Priya's Versatile Recipes. Every month members are paired up and then they give each other two secret ingredients based on the theme. We prepare the dish and post just the photo so other members can guess the secret ingredients. At the end of the month we post  our recipes and the secret ingredients each got are out!      This month my partner was a new comer to the group, but I've known her for a while. She's a young blogger with recipes on her blog that are little different and yet she has a trove of heirloom recipes too. She is Kriti Singhal Agrawal. She blogs at Krispy Kadhai and also runs a Facebook Page called From the Diaries of Great Cooks where she introduces followers to different cuisines of the world and you can share your recipes.   ...

Musical Food? Theme: Explore Latin American Cuisine BM#77 Week 2 Day 3     I tried really hard to avoid Mexican Food for the above theme. I wanted to try something different but sourcing some of the ingredients was proving to be a task. I wanted to make arepas but getting some pre cooked white corn meal was difficult. The staple diet in Kenya is ugali made from white corn meal or flour but the corn is not pre cooked before it is ground.        While I was doing some research on the Latin American Cuisine, (which by the way is so similar and may vary in small degrees, depending on which country it is from) I came across Flautas. What attracted me to the recipe was the name. Flautas (pronounced as fl-ow-tahs) means flute. Flautas are rolled much thinner than burritos.      Flautas are fried. That makes them crispy and crunchy. Sometimes they are filled with breakfast ingredients and served for breakfast. They are usually served on a be...

Superlicious  Theme: Explore Latin American Cuisine BM #77 Week 2 Day 1    Its my first time to join the Blogging Marathon . I've known about this group for quite a while as I follow most of the members. However, all this time I did not join the group as I found that perhaps blogging 6 new recipes in a month on specific days is a big challenge. However, I've just taken the plunge and am going to try out the waters.    So what is this group all about? Well, it was started by Srivalli who blogs at Cooking for all Seasons and at Spice your life . Members blog for any 2 weeks but for 3 consecutive days on chosen themes. For my first theme I chose to explore Latin American cuisine and you'll be surprised how many different varieties these countries have to offer. I wanted to make every veggie dish possible but was limited to the availability of ingredients.    My first choice for the Latin American Cuisine is a Mangonada or Chamango. Can you see the word ...

Happy Women's Day      International Women's Day is celebrated on 8th March all over the world. It focuses on gender equality, respect, love and appreciation of all women be it in the economic, political or social field. Every year the themes vary. This year the theme is "Be Bold for Change".While many women have been recognized for their achievements in many countries, there are still many more countries that believe in subduing the growth of women. Whether a woman is working or a homemaker all deserve to be recognized and appreciated.           Our #FoodieMonday #Bloghop group decided to have Women's Day treat as the 82nd theme . I would like to take this opportunity to recognize women who have influenced the way I think and lead my life.       Top of the list is my mother. Coming from a very small village in Gujarat, she left family and friends to start her new life as my dad's wife in Kenya. She didn't have any family ...
