Chocolate Dipped Frozen Bananas

Healthy Dessert For Kids Theme: Kid's Delight BM#85 Week 3 Day 3    During my last trip to Montreal, during the weekend we decided to go to the Old Port area. It was bustling with people, it was a very hot sunny day, many food trucks were around selling food, desserts etc, stalls selling hats, sunglasses, souvenirs, and so many things. While most of the Canadians and tourists were enjoying the sweltering sun, I was looking for some place to sit under the shade. I  cannot bear really hot weather. It just zaps all my energy and I feel so sluggish. I finally found some place on the bench under a tree and right in front of the truck selling chocolate dipped frozen bananas. The choice was to stand in the long line in the sun to get that or just sit under the tree. However, I so wanted to try the frozen banana dessert. Never had it before. The foodie in me got the better of me and I waited in the sun patiently for my turn. The wait was worth the while. It was so cooling, health...

Recipe Swap 2        After Dawn paired us up for the January Food Bloggers Recipe Swap, I had every intention of immediately checking out my partner Sarah Schwarz's blog Cook At Home . However, that did not happen as I was in a holiday mood. When Sarah sent me an email asking me questions to know a bit more about me, I thought I too better get cracking. However, on holiday and no access to a kitchen  I thought I'd go through her blog and decide on what I'd like to make. As I cruise through her blog I see the phrases like Whole 30 and Paleo. Frankly I didn't know what Whole 30 meant till I googled the phrase. So I knew I would find some healthy recipes on her blog, which I did...plenty of them.   Let's get to know Sarah a bit more.  Where do you live? Currently we live in Salt Lake City, Utah but was born and raised in South Australia.  We also lived in Chile for 2 years before coming to the US. What made you start a food blog? Discovering that I w...

Food Blogger Recipe Swap -November Partner :Luca - Simply Delish Eats    Its my first time to post a recipe for the Food Blogger Recipe Swap . I've always been interested in trying out recipes from other bloggers blogs. I wanted to join the Secret Recipe  Club but it shut down. I came across this group by chance and requested Amber Dawn who blogs at Simply Made recipes  to enroll me as a member. My first post and I'm a bit late but then better late than never. The other participants posted their recipes before Thanksgiving Day.     How does this group work? Well, its quite simple. Every month (except during holiday time), Amber will ask who would like to participate in the event for that particular month. We add our names and she pairs us up. We then visit our partner's blog and make something from there in our own way, style and post it on our blogs and linking it to the original recipe.    Luca lives in California (that's so ...

Land of the Dawn Lit Mountains    As I had mentioned last month, The Shh Cooking Secretly group started by Priya Suresh of Priya's Versatile Recipes is traveling round India state by state. Not physical travel, but cuisine wise. For the month of October participating members had to come up with dishes that are popular in Arunachal Pradesh with the given secret ingredients.    This state wise cooking is opening up a whole new world of cuisine for me. I'm learning new names of dishes, new ingredients and different cooking methods. Food in Arunachal Pradesh in general does not have much oil unless its a fried dish and they depend largely on ingredients grown or available locally. People of Arunachal Pradesh love their meat and bamboo shoot. Rice is a must with any meat or vegetable dish. Arunachal Pradesh is a state with 4 main regions and 26 major tribes and over 100 sub tribes. Dishes will vary according to the tribe and availability of ingredients.  Arun...

Food on Sticks is fun     The 109th theme for FoodieMonday, Bloghop is On A Stick decided by the initiator of this group Waagmi who blogs at Cooking is Funn . Just a few days ago my daughter in law posted some photos of their visit to Kuala Lumpur. She showed us food stalls serving all kinds of food on sticks or skewers. While most appeared to be meat and fish based, I could make out a few sticks of veggie stuff.    Serving food on sticks or skewers is fast becoming popular at Bars, Lounges, Dinner Parties, Cocktails,as Street Food as people don't want to get their fingers dirty and food on sticks or skewers does look pretty, colorful and tempting.    Just a few days ago I posted my paneer and naan bites . Its such a great way to enjoy tandoori paneer with tiny pieces of naan. For this theme, I was finding it difficult to choose what to make..... paneer lollipops, cauliflower Manchurian on sticks, fried baby corn, paneer tikka, even an ice lolly...that's fo...

673.Vegan Mixed Berries Ice Cream

Just the right time to have ice cream    It has been really hot for the past few days in Montreal. Its humid and just the kind of weather all Canadians enjoy. People are out walking, jogging, having picnics, swimming, sailing, lazing in the sun. Hubby and I want to be indoors as the sun is too much for us. My dad is here, his first visit to Canada. He is from London, so he too is enjoying the really sunny hot days. When I run for the shade, he thinks I'm mad. So I had to remind him that I get more than enough sun back home in Mombasa, so I'd rather enjoy the cool or cold weather.    Anyway, its the right theme that Sarah Ellis has chosen for this months Fantastical Food Fight . The theme is Ice Cream. I went through so many options to make the ice cream for this theme, but the abundance of berries just kept on beckoning me. A couple of weeks ago, we saw this documentary on veganism. I'm not totally convinced to give up my dairy products...love cheese and yogurt too m...

Kabalagala (Ugandan Pancakes)#BreadBakers So many different types its unbelievable    I didn't have any theme in mind when I volunteered to host the month of February for the Bread Bakers group. As Christmas got over and the year was ending I knew I had to think of a theme pretty soon. I went back to the rules for participants and there the word pancake kept staring at me. The only pancakes I know are the usual Indian ones like dosas, uttappams, chilas etc and of course the typical fluffy American style ones dripping with melted butter and honey or maple syrup. Did a bit of research (what would we do without Google?) and hey presto the world opened up to me with a variety of pancakes I'd never heard of. So I challenged the members to the theme of pancakes from different parts of the world, to venture out to pancakes they've not made before.       I am so grateful that the members took time to research and have come up with different pancakes. Check the list ...
