Pineapple Coconut Virgin Mojito Float

Cheers!    Go to any party, bar, pub, lounge, restaurant,  reception, and you'll see people clinking their glasses and saying cheers. Whether young or old, men or women, kids or adults all raise their glasses, filled with alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks to toast a host or for general good wishes to all present.    The word cheers originates from the French word chiere which meant face or head. By 18th century it meant gladness and was used as a way for encouragement. Today cheers is simply a way of wishing one or a group, good health and happiness.     It is believed that glasses were raised up as an offering of wine to the Gods. Clinking of glasses has many theories. However, no one is really sure which is the right one. When one has a glass of an alcoholic or non alcoholic drink in their hand, the sight of the drink evokes sight, taste, smell and feel. However to evoke the fifth sense, hearing, glasses are clinked resulting in the enhance...

679. Chilli Mojito

Refreshingly Chilli    Its time to post the Fantastical Food Fight recipe. For the month of August Sarah wanted us to use Rum in our food preparation. When the word Rum is mentioned I think of my favourite Rum and Raisin Cadbury Chocolate. But nowadays its difficult to find it in the supermarkets in Kenya.    So what is Rum? Rum is a alcoholic beverage made from sugarcane juice or its byproducts like molasses. The juice or byproducts are fermented and then distilled. The liquid is then aged in oak barrels.    I wanted to make some rum and raisin muffins but my hubby and son still don't want me to make anything sweet. So the next option was a cocktail. Nothing innovative about that but then its my first cocktail recipe on the blog. I love my cocktails but don't make them at home for myself. When I'm in UK, large family gatherings means alcohol flows. Its wine, beer and cocktails at home. When I go out with friends we enjoy some cocktails or wine. How...

Superlicious  Theme: Explore Latin American Cuisine BM #77 Week 2 Day 1    Its my first time to join the Blogging Marathon . I've known about this group for quite a while as I follow most of the members. However, all this time I did not join the group as I found that perhaps blogging 6 new recipes in a month on specific days is a big challenge. However, I've just taken the plunge and am going to try out the waters.    So what is this group all about? Well, it was started by Srivalli who blogs at Cooking for all Seasons and at Spice your life . Members blog for any 2 weeks but for 3 consecutive days on chosen themes. For my first theme I chose to explore Latin American cuisine and you'll be surprised how many different varieties these countries have to offer. I wanted to make every veggie dish possible but was limited to the availability of ingredients.    My first choice for the Latin American Cuisine is a Mangonada or Chamango. Can you see the word ...

647. Cherry Cobbler Parfait

Precious Cherries     For the month of May,  the Fantastical Food Fight theme was Cherry Cobbler. As I read that, I thought here's another month I'll have to sit out (last month was BLT and being a vegetarian B was certainly out for me). I asked if I could use glaced cherries and the reply was yes. However, wasn't feeling too happy about using them. So I waited practically till the last minute still deciding what to make. The charming thing about this group is that you don't have to participate monthly. Last Saturday I went to the local vegetable shop and I saw a whole big carton of cherries smiling at me. I asked the price and nearly fainted. Cherries are not tropical and so they are imported from South Africa or where ever! These days it baffles me to see Parathas from Philippines (I thought that was a rice eating nation), Oats from Turkey and just lets not get into what the Chinese are selling to Africa.   Getting back to the precious cherries, I shopped for the...
