Happy Valentine's Day    What is Valentine's Day without roses, chocolates and all things cute? Hope hubby is reading this and gets a hint;). People could be selling Valentine's paraphernalia right under his nose and he'd still not get the hint. Sighhhh! Perhaps I should treat myself to roses.     Getting down to today's theme for FoodieMonday/Bloghop group , we unanimously decided on Valentine Rose as our 131st theme . For this theme one could either prepare something that has rose flavor or which is in the shape of a rose. I really love rose flavor so I chose to make a healthy but romantic dessert. Though I served to hubby dear a few days before Valentine's, he thoroughly enjoyed the early treat. That means I will either make something else for Valentine's Day, repeat this recipe, or perhaps like him just pretend that Valentine's Day does not exist.     Roses and other edible flowers have been used for centuries in cooking. Many Indian sweet dis...

Include Millet In Your Diet Theme: Cookies For Your Sweet Tooth BM#81 Week 2 Day 3    Today has been such a horrible day for me. I wait till 9a.m. for the maid to turn up. I had planned so many Diwali cooking and baking items but didn't get even one done. She turns up after 9 and goes and sits down. I was a bit annoyed so didn't say anything. After a few minutes I hear long sighs... what a brilliant way to attract attention. I go to her and she tells me she is sick. So I tell her to go back home and rest and come back when she is well. She continues to sit there. The softie me asks her if she needs a cup of tea. She says yes. So I make some tea for her. She sips on the tea and then asks for money as she needs to go to the doctor. I really was mood spoilt by now... its not the end of the month and already she owes me quite a bit of money. She leaves.     I start tackling the housework. By mid morning I am so annoyed and lit...

Cookie,a must with tea or coffee Theme: Cookies For Your Sweet Tooth BM #81 Week 2 Day 2    Isn't it intriguing that when one has tea or coffee during mid morning or in the afternoon, one feels like having a cookie with it? I do. I usually want to have one small cookie with my afternoon tea. My siblings and I grew up having biscuits as we called them back then with our glass of milk. I enjoy dunking my cookie or biscuit in the tea, milk or coffee. A few places in the world will automatically serve a small cookie along with some coffee. I like that special treat whenever I get it.    I enjoying baking and cookies was what I learnt how to bake first. Then it was cakes and later on breads.  I love trying out new flavors. Rose and cardamom is one of them. A couple of years back I had gone to the spice souk when I was in Dubai. I picked up some dried tiny pink roses and they smell so heavenly. When I got home, I put them in a ziplock ...

MEGA BLOGGING MARATHON -SEPT 2017 #80TH BLOGGING MARATHON THEME: PROTEIN RICH DISHES DAY:26     Today is the last day of the Mega Blogging Marathon and what an experience it has been for me. Planning, researching, deciding, drafting and commenting. I've thoroughly enjoyed this marathon. I've made new blogger friends, learnt so much about different regional cuisines from them and we have nearly 442 protein rich dishes between 17 bloggers. That certainly takes care of protein intake from starters to desserts. At this juncture I must thank fellow blogger Veena of Veena's Vegnation . She casually asked me why I was not taking part in the Mega Marathon and I replied I don't think I can post a recipe for every day for a month with only Sunday being the day off. After that I thought why not and wrote to Srivalli to count me in.     I love baking, be it cookies, cakes or breads. However, when it comes to decorating cakes and cupcakes, I probably have two l...
