522. baked Punjabi samosa

Family time       I have been away from the blogging scene for nearly a month. I had gone to London for my nephew's wedding. Weddings are fun but hard work also. It gave me the opportunity to meet up with my huge huge family. Since I stay far away, meeting up with them is a special treat, a special occasion. My eldest son and my daughter in law too came for the wedding. My daughter in law wore a sari for the first and carried it off so beautifully. It seemed like she has been wearing saris like forever! Its amazing how during the pre-wedding, wedding and after wedding celebrations food plays such an important role. We barely use to get breakfast out of the way by 11 and come 1 p.m. people are flocking to the kitchen for lunch. Lunch over and we start preparing for dinner. Suddenly everyone has so much space for the variety of food. Its a known fact that we tend to eat more when we are in the company with others. 521. yeasted banana sandwich bread

magic fruit    Who would have ever thought that banana can be used along with yeast to make a delicious bread? I didn't.... till Aparna of   'We Knead to Bake' challenged us to bake one for September. I thought "that's going to be a sweet bread, so how come its a sandwich bread?" However, the bread was not sweet and besides the slight banana taste, its like any normal bread but with a soft inside and crispy crust. As soon as the loaf came out of the oven, I wanted to slice it straight away because of the delicious aroma. However, had to resist the urge but after 20 minutes just had to slice it. The warm bread was an excellent accompaniment to a wholesome soup. There are many other ingredients that can be added to the bread like nuts, chocolate, coffee, seeds, dried or fresh fruit, spices, oatmeal, caramel, honey etc.I decided to leave my plain.    I browsed through a few recipes to just make sure that mashed bananas were not added to the flour.
