Happy Mother's Day A few weeks back, I was thinking of my mum and obviously missing her tonnes. I wanted the approaching Mother's Day to be less painful. Now don't get me wrong my kids (from 3 now I have 5 :) ) all shower me with lots of love. I thought why not get some of my blogger friends to celebrate this day with me. Its amazing how much closer we all have become and most of us poured our hearts out and e ach ones recipe is somehow, somewhere connected to their mothers.  I approached 25 and 19 responded with enthusiasm and sent heartfelt messages. So here's what each of them shared for Mother's Day.  Mayuri Patel: My mum loved her Gujarati snacks like handvo, khandvi and her most favourite was matar kachori. Made with simple spices it was the yummiest snack. Patiently, she would make tonnes of these kachoris for our huge family. Missing you so much mum. Matar Kachori Kriti Singhal Agrawal says: Being a Mom is the toughest yet most cherishing job ever.  This Mot...

Mum's love is never ending    People say that time heals the wound, the pain. But it really doesn't. One is never too old to need a mum. We all go on with our lives but not a single day goes by when I don't remember my mum. Missed you tonnes when my children got married, miss you when its Mother's Day, miss you when its your birthday, I don't have the heart to call dad when its your wedding anniversary, miss you when I need some advise, basically miss you every moment.      Remember how so proudly you'd bought a whole dinner set for me when I'd moved to my new home. Still use it everyday. I use and treasure your orange scarf that you had bought when you went to Japan with dad. Some your favourite saris I treasure.     My mum was not a person who liked to hug and kiss all the time, she was a practical person and really didn't know how to 'sugar coat' what needed to be said. However, that does not mean she didn't care or love us. My mum, by jus...

642. Poğaça #BreadBakers

Happy Mother's Day--- Everyday should be Mother's Day    PoÄŸaça are cheese and herb filled Turkish savoury bread or pastries. Bread if you've used yeast to make the dough and pastry if you've used baking powder or baking soda as the leavening agent. I wasn't exactly planning on making this famous Turkish breakfast bread/pastry as my hunt on the wide web world was for flower shaped breads. Found quite a few, some simple and some complicated. It was during my search that my eyes fell on this beautiful shaped bread. It was a potato filled poÄŸaça (pronounced as poh-ah-cha). This led to my research for this delicious Turkish breakfast or tea treat and got to know that the original usually has a cheese and herb filling. PoÄŸaça can be shaped the way you want, simple like pies, or as roses (my were disastrous after baking), squares, rounds well basically any shape you want as long as it has a cheese herb filling.    You must be wondering why I was searching for flower shap...

Where Are The Yolks????      Mondays come too fast. Imagine we're already into the 5th month of the year. Time flies. The 91st theme for #FoodieMonday #Bloghop group was decided by fellow member and blogger Nisa . She asked us to prepare something that will not take more than 20 minutes. With #20minrecipes as the theme, I thought smoothies, salads, energy balls. All these barely take 5-10 minutes. It probably takes longer to gather up the ingredients. I thought one more salad and my group would say 'oh no not another salad,'. Smoothies ??? No its a bit cold to have them. Did I mention its finally raining? Energy balls... I swear I had some medjool dates but can't find them in the overstuffed fridge. In Mombasa our fridge is the pantry. We have to put everything from spices, flours to lentils to nuts in the fridge as the hot humid climate spoils these ingredients within weeks.        I decided to make Shakshuka (pronounced as shakh-shoo-kah). It does...
